Merrill Veteran Dwight Mathis Joins SunTrust
Dwight Mathis has joined SunTrust Bank as its Financial Advisor channel executive, the Atlanta-based company said.
As k-tcc reported in early June, Mathis left Merrill in May after 15 years in which he worked as a broker, branch manager, regional manager and head of training in postings from Charlotte to Albuquerque.
For the past two-and-a-half years he was manager of Merrill’s western Pennsylvania branches, based in Pittsburgh. He began his brokerage career with a three-year stint at Edward Jones.
At Suntrust Investment Services, he will oversee approximately 400 advisors within its “retail investment and premier banking” sector, a spokesman said.
“It was a hard decision to leave Merrill, I have great respect for that organization and its leadership,” Mathis wrote in an email.
Merrill has named Brian Ludwick, market executive in Louisville, Kentucky, to replace Mathis as western Pennsylvania head. Ludwick joined Merrill as a broker in Merrill’s Crystal River, Florida, office in 2000, and since 2003 has held various sales management positions in the field.
In keeping with Bank of America’s push to promote bank product sales by Merrill brokers, an internal announcement about Ludwick’s promotion says that after “graduating” from the firm’s Leader in Development program in 2014, he became associate director for the Indiana complex, “leading wealth management bankers and financial advisors in providing banking services to their clients.”
